It takes time for your income to build from affiliate programs. Most are free to sign up, but you need to find ways to build traffic to your affiliate links to generate sales to give you a commission. Then there is usually a delay of a month or two after a sale before you are paid your commission. (They wait to make sure the item isn’t returned) Squidoo is a great platform for placing links to products relevant to the content of a good lens, but just posting affiliate links without good content probably won’t give you any sales. The simple techniques to drive sales are to write good content about interesting things and also use backlinks to get traffic.
You can also earn directly from Squidoo from page ranking and if you add modules with products from Amazon and get commissions from those sales. Here is an example of a Squidoo page that has a variety of several types of modules that earn sales from commissions and also several affiliate links: http://www.squidoo.com/Seattle-Pike-Place-Market
Squidoo is a community so it is a reciprocal type of thing – you visit another person’s lens and most will reciprocate and visit one of yours. They also have a forum where you can ask for a critique or ask questions.

You can also add affiliate links to free blogs – again content is important if you want your blog to have high search engine placement. Here are some free affiliate programs you might want to take a look at:
Zazzle is fun because you can have your own shop of products that you design that people can order

All posters is a good one because you can use links to their products (posters) to add relevant pictures to your lens or blog to make it more interesting: http://affiliates.allposters.com/link/redirect.asp?AID=1581418438&PSTID=1<ID=19&LID=112&ParentAID=1581418438&lang=1
Here are a couple of other affiliate programs that have many companies and products to choose from: Share-a –sale: http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=69&u=360104&m=47&urllink=&afftrack
